I just bought a new leather motorcycle jacket, How do I clean it is it OK to put shoe polish on it? Its black.?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I want to keep the jacket looking good and am wondering how to maintain the leather. And if its OK to use shoe polish, paste or liquid.

Here's a whole list of products:

Are you allowed to take on board an aircraft as hand luggage a motorcycle crash helmet and a sat nav,?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

this is a domestic flight, Belfast to Leeds, Jet2.com is the airline, dont want to take the risk with the helmet, u know what some baggage handlers are like, going first thing in the morning. Thanks
andybike, tried easyjet, they said its ok, funny old world. tried to ring, all u get is a taped message

No reason why not, it really depends what ELSE you are trying to get on with.

If you turn up with a big rucksack, a laptop AND the helmet they will chase you. The cabin crews don't take any nonsense when it comes to hand baggage nowadays.

If oyu have got a sensibly sized item of hand baggage, PLUS the helmet you should be Okay. Just don't make a big fuss about it. Many business types still take a bag AND a laptop. You just have to be sensible.

The worst that can happen is the stewardess clocks the helmet, takes it off you and puts in the cupboard where they store the business guys' coats.

Sat nav, no problem whatsoever as long as it stays switched off.

If you put on the helmet inside the aircraft the other passengers will NOT appreciate it!!

There is aload of really total garbage answers being given here on Yahoo answers about exactly what you can and can not take as hand baggage. I suggest you check with the BAA website because the rules change all the time.

Which is the safest motorbike helmet available in the UK?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Are there any sites out there that review the safety of various models?
I couldn't find any (probably me being thick).

Thanks!

Go for a brand name new helmet and spend money because it is your head you are protecting! Don't buy off the net!!!

This should be a good start.

Motocross helmet vs Standard Racing helmet?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Hi is there a difference in size from a medium standard racing helmet to a medium motocross helmet? Are motocross helmets with goggles comfortable? Which type of helmet do you prefer? Many Thanks Jimbo

Jimbo, if you want to ride on the street, a street helmet is advised. Motocross helmets don't have safety features like street helmets do, and they're less comfortable for the long haul.
Most full face street helmets have EPS in the chinbar, which is the same stuff in the rest of the helmet to protect your chin and mouth area.
If, however, I'm just riding in the dirt…a dirt helmet is fine.
